You are bidding on a VERY NICE relic example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Me109 Kopfschutz Head Armour (Galland Panzer) Glass, 109.139-001, as only used ONLY in the Me109 F thru K series fighter aircraft!    The Galland Panzer was invented in 1941 by Adolf Galland and his mechanic. He was unsatisfied with the rear view visibility on the Me109, so he ordered his mechanic to make him a transparent armored headrest.  It eventually become a field modification as early as November 1942 for all Me109, and fitted at factory level as standard equipoment in 1944-1945 in the Me109 G10 and K-4. This original armour plating protected the pilot from anti-aircraft fire, Flak, and MG rounds coming from enemy aircraft.  It was located right behind the pilots head, mounted into the main canopy.    Made of  thick glass, this Me109 Head Armour is in SUPERB used condition!  Though it has some surface scratches and large chips due to the age, it is one of the BEST examples I have seen!  Should clean up quite well!  It was mounted directly above the pilot's head to protect him from any bullets or flak.  I have referenced it's location in the last photo.  Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display! Please email me if you need additional photos or information.
