(*)designed for motorhomes, marine, car, camping, caravan and solar Description: Our iced energy lithium battery type LiFePO4 is the optimal replacement for conventional lead-acid based supply batteries. Due to the easy replacement, they are suitable for numerous areas of application. The advantage of LiFePO4 is that compared to conventional lead-acid based batteries, more usable capacity is available and they deliver many times more charge cycles. The batteries require short charging times and can be used at outdoor temperatures between -20°C and +55°C, which makes them ideal for use in motorhomes.Charging in freezing conditions is always an issue with lithium batteries. For this reason, we have integrated a heating element into our battery. The technology is intrinsically safe and absolutely cycle-proof, offers a high storage density and capacity with a compact design and low weight. Several batteries can be connected in parallel or in series in order to achieve the required capacity or system voltage.The LiFePO4 Iced Energy consists of 4 single cells connected in series with 3.2V each. Each cell is monitored by a cell module. A balancing system on the cell modules balances the cell voltages with each other. In case of overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature of one or more battery cells, the battery management system activates the protective circuits. Easy replacement: The drop-in solution, old lead battery out, new lithium battery in, done! Due to the same dimensions of the housing as the common 80-100Ah GEL, AGM or lead-acid batteries, the replacement of the battery can be done very easily and quickly. The FraRon 100AH lithium battery fits into the same battery holder, the round terminals are identical, so that the usually existing terminals can simply be reused. Switching to lithium could not be easier. It should be noted that when installing in vehicles, a charge booster must be available or retrofitted. Depending on the seat console, two of these batteries fit under the passenger seat of common motorhomes based on Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper or Peugeot. Up to four batteries can be connected in parallel or in series. More usable capacity, less weight: As this battery can easily be discharged to 90% of its capacity, you have significantly more energy available for the same size than with conventional GEL, AGM or lead-acid batteries, whose recommended depth of discharge is max. 50%. The usable capacity of this 100Ah lithium battery therefore corresponds to that of a conventional 180Ah battery.A major advantage of this battery technology is the significantly lower weight, which is a decisive argument for many motorhome owners with borderline loads. The high energy density of lithium batteries brings a weight saving of up to 70%, with the same usable capacity. Integrated heating: The LiFePO4 Lithium battery system Iced Energy has a heating function. When the battery management system detects that the temperature inside the battery is below 0°C, the heater - with an activecharger/charging source is active, the heating function in the battery will switch on. When the temperature inside the battery has risen to a value between 0°C and 5°C, the heating is deactivated and the charging of the battery is released. The heating power is approx. 100W (only when the charging source is active). Self-monitoring: The battery management system (BMS) is integrated in the battery housing, no external additional components are required. The battery monitors itself completely. As soon as an overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature is detected, the BMS reacts immediately and protects the battery from damage. Charging technology: Charging technology already installed in your vehicle can be used as long as it complies with the charging voltages according to the battery specification. In most cases, no special lithium charging technology is required to charge this battery. Battery temperature sensors may only be connected if the charging technology used has a lithium charging profile and this is set. In all other cases, no temperature sensor for lithium batteries may be used. The integrated protective cut-offs work as follows: Undervoltage cut-off: If the battery voltage reaches ≤11.0V or the cell voltage of one of the 4 cells is ≤2.75V the battery management immediately switches off the output. Charging of the battery ischarging of the battery is of course still possible. Reconnection after undervoltage switch-off: As soon as the battery voltage is ≥12.0V again or the cell voltage of all 4 cells has risen to ≥3.0V the battery management switches the output back on. Overvoltage cut-off: When the battery voltage reaches ≥15.0V or the cell voltage of one of the 4 cells is ≥3.75V, the battery management switches off the input. Discharging the battery is of course still possible. Reconnection after overvoltage shutdown: As soon as the battery voltage is ≤14.0V again or the cell voltage of all 4 cells has dropped to ≤3.5V the battery management switches the input back on. Overtemperature: If an overtemperature is detected on one or more cells, the protection circuit switches off the input and output of the battery. In this state, charging / discharging is not possible; only when the battery temperature has dropped again does the input and output switch back on automatically. Cell balancing: Furthermore, the battery system has an integrated balancing (cell balancing), which - while charging is in the final phase - balances the battery voltage of the individual cells among themselves, so that a largely equal voltage level of the cells is achieved. Parallel and series connection:  It is easily possible to connect up to four of these batteries in parallel to increase capacity or up to four batteries in series to increase system voltage. Bluetooth function: With the FraRon iced energy app, a Bluetooth connection with smartphone or tablet (android or iOS) can be established to the battery. The state of charge, charge and discharge current, battery voltage, cell voltage and battery temperature are displayed in the app. This gives you an optimal overview of the status of your battery system at all times. The FraRon Iced Energy app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and the Google Playstore. In the respective store, enter the word: FraRon Iced Energy in the search field. Efficiency: The energy utilisation rate is another key advantage of this battery technology. Especially in the solar sector, the degree of energy utilisation can be of great importance. Lead-acid / GEL / AGM batteries have an energy efficiency of approx. 80%. This means that only 80% of the charging power is actually stored by the battery, the rest is power loss. The energy efficiency of these batteries becomes particularly poor as soon as they reach a state of charge above 80%, then the energy efficiency drops to approx. 50%. This means that about 50% of the charging energy is lost.A LiFePo4 battery, on the other hand, has an energy efficiency of 92%. The solar energy source, which is often not particularly abundant in motorhomes, is much better utilised and is largely stored in the battery. Even at states of charge above 80%, approx. 90% of the charging power used still goes into the battery and is not lost as heat. Charging behaviour: In the same way, the lithium battery is fast-chargeable and can therefore be recharged in a short time, which shortens the time at the mains connection. It is not necessary to charge the lithium battery completely, as is the case with conventional batteries. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have no memory effect. The service life is even slightly longer if the battery is not always charged to 100%. The final charging voltage can be between 14.2V and 14.4V and does not require a special charger adapted to the battery type, as is the case with conventional lead-acid / GEL / AGM batteries. The existing chargers, solar charge regulator, alternator in the vehicle can be used to charge the lithium battery without adaptation. Charging cycles: >3,000 charging cycles (0.5C@ 100% DOD).5,000 charging cycles (0.5C@ 70% DOD) Warranty 36 months from date of purchase Maintenance-free operation: No maintenance in the form of refilling is necessary. No gases are produced during charging. Note and recommendation: If your motorhome has a voltage-controlled charge level indicator, this will no longer be able to reliably indicate the charge level in conjunction with lithium batteries; Since lithium batteries have a constant high voltage over almost the entire capacity range, conventional battery voltage display systems (most system panels in motorhomes without a measuring shunt) are not able to display the state of charge correctly.
